About the Author
My name is Cora Graham. I'm a pretty boring, quiet person in reality. I have an unhealthy (what the husband thinks) addiction to coffee. I need coffee in a don't talk to me until I've had my first sip kind of way. When I'm driving alone in my van (that I love) I happen to think I'm the best singer in the world and there is no song I can't sing. Don't laugh, you know you do it too. And to my husbands baffled amazement, I love love love martial arts movies. They're my guilty pleasure. What no one knows about me (until now) is that I've always had these imaginary conversations flowing through my head, with these imaginary people, telling me their imaginary stories. Since having kids of my own, I've discovered a bravery I didn't know I had. I tell my boys to be brave in all things, there is nothing they can't do or become. Of course with kids, those dreams can change daily. It's their bravery and dreamful little minds of becoming a scientist, policeman, firefighter (I've even heard ninja) that gave me the inspiration to do what I've always done in my head. Tell stories. My hope is that people will love reading my stories as much as I've come to love writing them.

Perfect weekend read
By Harebear1987
Do not let the plain cover fool you this book was amazing and was an absolute roller coaster ride. A huge thank you to Cora Graham for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I knew from the first few chapters that me and Lilly were going to get along just fine. Not sociable, not trusting, people getting on her nerves yup sums me up perfectly as well. I would've loved to have hung out with Lilly and Andrea. Andrea played the best friend role to perfection and I loved her Texan quirkiness. Luke and Carter my oh my I would not want to have to choose between those two guys. They were both amazing and I fell in love with both of them from the start. I felt like all the characters in Pretty Dancer were just done to perfection and it was hard to fault them. Even the "satan's barbies" played their role in the story and played it well.

I was really looking forward to an emotional read for the weekend and Pretty Dancer certainly bought the emotions. My heart broke for Lilly time and time again. To live what she lived through and be hit with all the drama that comes at her throughout the book was just incredible. I loved her completely crazy moments and also any girl that uses a high heel as a weapon is definitely made of awesome in my opinion. The letter from Mitch just wow I don't want to go into too much detail cos you know spoilers and all that but just wow.

You may be asking yourself why the 4 star rating if I clearly loved the book and the characters so much. Well unfortunately I just felt that it was far too slow and wordsy at times. Things that could've been summarised in a paragraph or two would go on for a few pages. There were times where Lilly was just rambling and the rambling would go on for pages. When the book was at its greatest it was emotion filled and amazing but when we had the wordsy pages it dragged and I would start to lose focus.

This book was fantastic though and was the perfect weekend read. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for anything else that Cora Graham releases. Also at the time of publishing this review the book was only 98 cents so I urge you all to go pick it up while it's so cheap.

One of the few first-person, present-tense stories I've been able to get into.
By Trish (I read too much!)
In this young adult romance, the majority of the characters are seniors in highschool. Lilly, the main character, is juggling three main goals/conflicts. Her past, her future, and her present. Her past is a combination of family tragedy and personal horror story, a secret kept from all but her brother. Her present is the blossom of first love with a boy who has secrets of his own, along with all the confusion, emotional turmoil and drama such a thing generates. Her future is her upcoming dance audition for the school of her dreams, The Elite, and all the fear, self-doubt, and stress that involves. There was a pretty good balance of these themes throughout, though certain plot points and statements are brought up over and over again in Lilly's thoughts.

What I loved most about the plot is how past, present and future are on a track to collide. The story builds towards that collision very well. And yes, the story resolves. Questions are answered; loose ends are tied. We aren't left hanging. I was satisfied with the ending.

As for sexual content, it was mostly mild, lot's of tension, at least one heavy petting scene and quite a bit of kissing. There was one fade to black; I'm not sure anything actually happened, and I kind of preferred and assumed that it didn't.

Youthful in tone, the writing was paced well for the most part and true to the target audience. I felt like the voice of the main character, Lilly, was well represented, and I particularly liked the emotives that her inner voice spawns. The little internal "oh nos" and "I can't believe I just said thats" were well-placed and relatable (sometimes rather funny, other times painful in that I felt embarrassed with her). I also think the author did a fantastic job translating the art of dance into the written word. I could picture it. Beautiful.

On the other hand, I must say I did get a bit tired of the same statements of wishful thinking, confusion, and self-explanation popping up over and over. It got a little old, but not enough to discourage me from reading on or recommending the story.

As for editing, the story was reasonably well-edited and the grammar, word choice and sentence structure, for the most part, were worked over to good effect. Then again, the story could still use another run through by someone looking for sound-alike words and the occassional typo that wouldn't register on a spell check (verb tense changes by a missing letter, that sort of thing).

I really liked this story and would recommend it to fans of realistic YA romance. The story is relatable and drew me in emotionally. Although it took me a couple of days to finish it, I did find myself reading way too late wanting to find out what happens next. I think young people will like this story.

The review copy of this book was provided by author in return for honest, non-reciprocal review.

You Will Want to Know Their Secrets!
By SamanthaReads
Life is hard enough when you’re a teenager. Anyone who has navigated the fun times and the not so fun times of high school rumors and gossip will relate to that. Pretty Dancer is about a brother and sister in high school who are trying to find their way while dealing with the difficult lot in life they have been handed. Emancipated from their hateful father, Lilly and her twin brother Luke only have each other to rely on. Their bond is unbreakable and unshakeable. Their characters are likeable and believable.

Lilly’s dream to break away from all the drama in her life is to have the opportunity to become a dancer at The Elite Academy of Dance. That goal is all that she desires…until she meets that one special guy in her life that actually makes her feel special. But a relationship with Carter is not what she was looking for, and after all Lilly has been through, can she even trust Carter? Can she dare to open her heart to let someone else in? You will want to know their secrets.

This is where good writing comes into play, and for a first-time author, Cora Graham manages to do this with perfection. The book flows easily. All the characters are well thought out and developed. You will either love them, or hate them, just as the author intended. You will feel what Lilly feels…her heartbreak, her determination, and her strong instincts for survival.

This book is targeted for teens and young adults but you don’t have to be in high school to enjoy it. The writing will pull you back to a time in your life that you never forget. Tumult, angst, happiness, first dates and first loves are all part of the journey.

I will admit that I did not see the ending coming. Keeping a secret like that was shocking.

Pretty Dancer is a very good read!
